Making Fun of Your Problems…

Thinks are not always serious as they look, or its not necessary that serious situation can’t be funny. Believe me, even a worst situation can turn funny. Isn’t it??? Then why do we laugh on bloopers, and if you see closely all the bloopers are actually serious situations with a pinch of funny music, which makes us laugh like crazy.

So as they say – Make Fun of your problems and you never know when the problems will get annoy and leave you….

Sharing one such interesting situation which I got today in my Inbox, and it goes like this -

After Getting all of Pope Benedict's luggage loaded into the limo, (and he doesn't travel light), the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.

'Excuse me, Your Holiness,' says the driver, 'Would you please take your seat so we can leave?'

'Well, to tell you the truth,' says the Pope, 'they never let me drive at the Vatican , and I'd really like to drive today..'

'I'm sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! What if something should happen?' protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning..

'Who's going to tell?' says the Pope with a smile.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kms.. (Remember, the Pope is German..)

'Please slow down, Your Holiness!' pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.

'Oh, dear God, I'm going to lose my license -- and my job!' moans the driver.

The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.

'I need to talk to the Chief,' he says to the dispatcher.
The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a limo going 205 kph.

'So bust him,' says the Chief.

'I don't think we want to do that, he's really important,' said the cop.
The Chief exclaimed,' All the more reason!'

'No, I mean really important,' said the cop with a bit of persistence.
The Chief then asked, 'Who do you have there, the mayor?'

Cop: 'Bigger.'

Chief: 'A senator?'

Cop: 'Bigger.'

Chief: 'The Prime Minister?'

Cop: 'Bigger.'

'Well,' said the Chief, 'who is it?'

Cop: 'I think it's God!'

The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, 'What makes you think it's God?'

Cop: 'His chauffeur is the Pope!'

What Is Executive Toughness?

What is executive toughness?

Does it require you to develop a thicker skin than others?

Be less compassionate?

Be more competitive?

Can it be taught or modeled?

Answer by Dr. Jason Selk, Director of Mental Training for the St.Louis Cardinals – 2011 World  Series Champions.

When doing the research for my  book Executive Toughness, The Mental-Training Program to Increase Your Leadership Performance,” I had the rare good fortune to meet and spend in-depth time with individuals who are some of the most mentally tough individuals on earth, whether it be an athlete, a coach, or a businessperson.

One of those people was Nando Parrado. If you don’t recognize the name, he was one of the survivors from the plane crash in the Andes in 1972, a famous book and movie Alive was made about his story.

What you have is an individual who gets on a plane to go to an international rugby match and seven hours after departure the plane crashes into the Andes Mountains. Several of his teammates are killed and they’re left stranded on the mountain. They have to do whatever they can do on that mountain to stay alive.

I think the normal course of action for human beings might be to get caught up in all the problems, and rightfully so, especially in that situation. In the book I write about the 10 mental toughness fundamentals, one of which is a relentless solution focus (RSF). Nando is the perfect illustration of RSF. He refused to let his mind focus on the direness of the situation. Instead he was maniacally relentless about identifying solutions. In the end this relentless solution focus is what put him in a position to save himself and 16 of the other teammates that survived. It’s an amazing story.

What I  did for the book was to look for patterns in people that had exhibited  mental toughness in many facets of life. Toughness can be taught. Toughness can be modeled.

Human beings are made up of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. What we found is that what goes on in your head, the thoughts, are literally what controls the way you feel and behave.

And so, if you kind of look at the key to the entire human organism’s success, it really is what I coin that “mental toughness.” If you can learn to get the right thoughts in your head, then you are going to not only control your thinking but you are going to control the way you act, the way you behave and the way you feel. That’s the whole kit and caboodle. That’s what we are really looking for.

That mental toughness, going back to Nando, is the mind’s ability to stay focused on solutions, especially in the face of adversity. I am going to say it again. The mind’s ability to stay focused on solutions, especially in the face of adversity. When things are going well, when the cash register and the phone is ringing, and you are winning games, mental toughness really isn’t necessary. It’s when times are difficult, when you are losing on the scoreboard or when the economy is down, as it has been for the last several years, that’s when people really need to get in control of those thoughts.

The first step to mental toughness is to identify,

“Okay, what is going on in my head?”

The second step is,

“What really should be going on in my head?”

The third step is to train yourself to  control your thoughts in a way to produce an increased level of health, happiness and success.

That’s really where mental toughness begins.

Let’s take baseball players. Like the St.Louis Cardinals, since I know a little about them. At the beginning of a season I teach a mental training plan from my first book, which is a sports psychology book written just primarily for athletes and coaches. It’s all about being accountable. Doing the work. Both physical and mental. I work with the players throughout the season who was for additional help, making sure that they are doing the right things; they are staying accountable, doing the work. And if they do  you cannot help but become more mentally tough.

You get that? The 2011 World Series Champs have a psychological mental training plan.

If people can improve their mental toughness they are going to put themselves in a position to increase their ability to be in control of their lives, be happier, healthier and  more successful.

The Art of Letting Go

Quote -If your are not willing to risk the unusual ,you will have to settle for the ordinary .

Check out the Video below and sometime the best is to let it go…let Go of your ego, your hardship, your agony, your anger and anything else that weighs heavy on you and stop you to move on in your life.

Well I am practicing it but still not able to give it, but then when I see something like this, I wonders that the best is to let it go……

The Video is in Koren but you can read the Subtitle….

So if you like the Video you can read the rest of the long article or may be Let it go.

THE ART OF LETTING GO

Sooner or later, everyone you know will disappoint you in some way. They'll say something or fail to say something that will hurt you. And they'll do something or fail to do something that will anger you. It's inevitable.

Unfortunately, you make things worse when you stew over someone's words and deeds. When you dwell on a rude remark or an insensitive action made by another person, you're headed for deeper problems.
In fact, the more you dwell on these things, the more bitter you'll get.

You'll find your joy, peace and happiness slipping away. And you'll find your productivity slowing down as you spend more and more time thinking about the slight or telling others about it. Eventually, if you don't stop doing it, you'll even get sick.

So what should you do the next time someone betrays you? TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR FEELINGS. Even though the other person may be at fault, even though the other person wronged you, you are still responsible for your own feelings.

In other words, other people do not "cause" your feelings. You choose them.

For example, two different people could be told that their suggestions made at the staff meeting were "stupid and idiotic." One person may "choose" to feel so hurt that he never speaks up at any other meeting again. The other person may "choose" to feel sorry for the critic, sorry that the critic couldn't see the wisdom and necessity of her suggestions.

As long as you blame other people for your feelings, as long as you believe other people caused your feelings, you're stuck. You're a helpless victim . But if you recognize the fact that you choose your feelings and you are responsible for your feelings, there's hope. You can take some time to think about your feelings. And you can decide what is the best thing to say or do.

Then, you've got to learn to WALK AWAY FROM DISAPPOINTMENT. It's difficult to do, but it's possible. The famous 19th century Scottish historian, Thomas Carlyle, proved that.
After working on his multi-volume set of books on "The French Revolution" for six years, Carlyle completed the manuscript and took volume one to his friend John Stuart Mill. He asked Mill to read it.
Five days later, Mill's maid accidentally threw the manuscript into the fire. In agony, Mill went to Carlyle's house to tell him that his work had been destroyed.

Carlyle did not flinch. With a smile, he said, "That's all right, Mill.
These things happen. It is a part of life. I will start over. I can remember most of it, I am sure. Don't worry. It's all here in my mind. Go,my friend! Do not feel bad."

As Mill left, Carlyle watched him from the window. Carlyle turned to his wife and said, "I did not want him to see how crushed I am by this misfortune." And with a heavy sigh, he added, "Well the manuscript is gone, so I had better start writing again."

Carlyle finally completed the work, which ranks as one of the great classics of all time. He had learned to walk away from his disappointment.

After all, what could Carlyle have done about his burnt manuscript?
Nothing. Nothing would have resurrected the manuscript. All Carlyle could do was to get bitter or get started. And what can you do about anything once it is over? Not much. You can try to correct it if it is possible, or you can walk away from it if it isn't. Those are your only two choices.

Sometimes you've just got to shake it off and step up. It's like the farmer who had an old mule who fell into a deep dry well. As he assessed the situation, he knew it would be difficult, if not impossible, to lift the heavy mule out of the deep well.

So the farmer decided to bury the mule in the well.

After all, the mule was old and the well was dry, so he could solve two problems at once. He could put the old mule out of his misery and have his  well filled.

The farmer asked his neighbors to help him with the shoveling. To work they went. As they threw shovel-full of dirt after shovel-full of dirt on the  mule's back, the mule became frightened.

Then all of a sudden an idea came to the mule. Each time they would throw a shovel-full of dirt on his back, he would shake it off and step up.

Shovel-full after shovel-full, the mule would shake it off and step up. In not too long a time, the exhausted and dirty mule stepped over the top of the well and through the crowd.

That's the same approach we all need to take. We need to shake it off and step up.

Comparative Intelligence…

It always forces me to wonder that how easily we individual tends to compare our self to others by simply focusing on positive aspects about ourselves and conveniently focusing on negative aspects of others. Well…..I know its just matter of convenience.

I guess that’s a human trait that we are born with. Or can I say that we are not born with it but acquire the comparative intelligence through what we do, what we learn, how we interact and so on….

We tend to compare that how come I have a cheaper car than my colleague…how come I have studied in lesser college than my friend, how come I have lesser marks….how come I get lesser pay than my colleague or for that matter my boss…

Interesting the below helps and enables us to understand that its not right and easy to compare things…As even when you are comparing Apples to Apples…its not a true comparison…As there are more than 7500 known cultivars of apples.

A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop.
The surgeon was there, waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his bike.

The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a question?"

The surgeon a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take valves out, fix 'em, put 'em back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I get such a small salary and you get the really big bucks, when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic...

"Try doing it with the engine running."

Have a Happy Week.

Ok, I can Only say that its growing…

Well, its no brainer that the Internet is growing. But with all that is happening below, I am wondering which all trajectory will the mobile internet will take. We all know since the increasing adoption of mobile internet, and the number of devices that are connected to the Internet is growing exponentially.

Now with internet and its multiple facets are now responsible for many other things beyond its traditional use – Information access. Like what we saw recently in Egypt and London on how internet is responsible for revolution and rioting.

I am keen to understand on how mobile will change the given dynamics of internet and its use on land where information access is still the key like Africa, Asia, LATAM, etc.

Something for me to dig further….

Just Smile and Wave Boys

There is always certain lines or sentences that are beautifully worded together to form a meaning that could possibly helps you to understand life better. Someone ones told me that really helped me to deal with life situations when either the life or individual puts me down – “If the loser smiles after losing the game, the winner will lose the thrill of his victory, and that’s the power of smile”

Hence, smiles is what that can help us moving on. Don’t worry even if it’s not real as you never know how what you once wear could become part of you – ie smile. Further it was great to read something today that I thought to quickly share with all – An Interview with God.

It was an opportunity that was once given to a human being to ask one question to the God. Post much of a deliberate thought following is what the Man asked to which the God replied:-

Man – What surprises you most about the human mankind?

God – The thing that surprises the most is that they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again. That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present such that they live in neither the present nor the future. That they live as if they will never die and die as though they had never live.

The above may be a brief answer from the almighty, but something that should not be brief in your mind. Let it reside in your mind and enjoy what you do have without missing what you don’t.

As the line in Madagascar says “Just Smile and Wave boys”……Just smile and way on your problems and you never know when the problems get annoyed and leave you

So please…….

Just Smile and Wave Boys
