It always forces me to wonder that how easily we individual tends to compare our self to others by simply focusing on positive aspects about ourselves and conveniently focusing on negative aspects of others. Well…..I know its just matter of convenience.
I guess that’s a human trait that we are born with. Or can I say that we are not born with it but acquire the comparative intelligence through what we do, what we learn, how we interact and so on….
We tend to compare that how come I have a cheaper car than my colleague…how come I have studied in lesser college than my friend, how come I have lesser marks….how come I get lesser pay than my colleague or for that matter my boss…
Interesting the below helps and enables us to understand that its not right and easy to compare things…As even when you are comparing Apples to Apples…its not a true comparison…As there are more than 7500 known cultivars of apples.
A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop.
The surgeon was there, waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his bike.
The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a question?"
The surgeon a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take valves out, fix 'em, put 'em back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I get such a small salary and you get the really big bucks, when you and I are doing basically the same work?"
The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic...
"Try doing it with the engine running."
Have a Happy Week.
