The Dragon is Roaring

I am witnessing the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics 2008 and have been forced to quickly pen down this post. I will have to say that this is one of the better ceremonies or rather a spectacle that I have seen for last many years. All planned and choreographed and even performed by people and not machine just forced me to say that the “Dragon is Roaring”.

In some ways this seems to become a way of communicating to the world the “Re-emergence” of China as a super power. I am aware that this news is nothing new, however I truly feel and believe that the way they (China) has been able to pull this off, they have showcased their strength, including a small, yet pretty impressive trip into the 5000 years of history and cultural existence, at the event ceremony.

I do not agree with what all mechanism China follows, but cannot argue that what they have been able to pull off in last few years has taken the so called developed countries many folds or decades and even centuries. I must say that if countries like China also understand their social responsibility with all the power they have, to not only become the biggest contributor to the world economy or a super power but also towards the mankind. As they always say that with big power comes the big responsibility.

Hence, I would still say that with the kind spectacle they showcased today, and its (China) ability to look beyond, makes China a country that I would like to research, read and admire. But having said that, fundamental rights of human being are what they need to work towards.

Make the citizens proud – not only the people living in big cities but in villages, and in turn they will make the country proud. Mahatma Gandhi once said that “India lives in its Villages”, and I still feel its true in current environment, further I feel that it may be true for China. So one day I will visit China to learn more and see what they have done differently to tell the world - yes we have put our leg into the door and “Re-emerging”.

Have A nice Weekend!
